A Creative Art, Craft & Building Club for Ages 3+
Children 5+ can be dropped off, but we welcome parents and caregivers to stay and participate. Families are only required to purchase tickets for children.

Term 4 | 8-Week Course | Week 2–Week 9

Welcome to Tiny Tinkers & Crafters, a creative art and making class where children can build, experiment, investigate and turn everyday materials into something completely new.

Designed for ages 3+ and welcoming siblings and whole-family participation, each week children will be presented with an imaginative making challenge using recycled, natural and everyday materials. Through art, craft and construction, they’ll explore ideas around movement, balance, structure and design while developing problem-solving skills and creative confidence.

Alongside the creative process, each project will incorporate simple STEM concepts, giving children opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics through hands-on making. From experimenting with movement and balance to discovering how structures can be built and supported, STEM learning is naturally woven into each creative project.

The projects are open-ended, meaning there isn’t always one “right” way to create. Children of different ages can approach each challenge at their own level, making the class suitable for families and siblings to participate in together.

For homeschooling families, we'll provide a curriculum-linked handout each week that connects the creative project directly to relevant curriculum learning areas. This gives families a simple way to document and extend the learning that takes place during each session.

✨ What We’ll Be Creating – Week by Week

Week 2 – Wind-Powered Cars
Children will design and build their own little cars using recycled materials, then experiment with wind to see how they can make their creations move. A playful introduction to movement, wheels and simple engineering.

Week 3 – Cardboard Houses
Using cardboard and recycled materials, children will design and construct their own little houses. They’ll explore how different shapes and materials can be joined together to create a stable structure.

Week 4 – Rocket Ships
Blast off into imaginative engineering as children design and build their own rocket ships. They’ll experiment with shapes, structures and creative details while imagining where their rockets might travel.

Week 5 – Balancing Mountain Sculptures
Children will investigate balance and stability while building unusual mountain-like sculptures from a collection of recycled materials. They’ll experiment with stacking, weight and shape to see how high they can build.

Week 6 – Giant Bugs
Inspired by the incredible shapes and structures found in the insect world, children will create their own giant bugs from recycled materials. They’ll experiment with body shapes, legs, and wings.

Week 7 – Boats
Children will design and build their own boats. They’ll explore floating, balance and construction while experimenting with materials to create a vessel ready for an imaginary adventure.

Week 8 – Aeroplanes
Children will design and construct their own aeroplanes from recycled materials. They’ll explore shape, balance and movement while imagining where their handmade aircraft might fly.

Week 9 – Christmas Elf Workshop
Children will step into the world of Christmas elves as they design and build tiny furniture and furnishings from recycled and everyday materials. They’ll then create an open-ended miniature diorama, designing their own little elf space and deciding what happens inside.
