🌈 After School Art  - Single Session – A Creative Journey for Ages 5–11

Term 4 | 8-Week Course | Week 2 (23 Oct) – Week 9 (11 Dec) - Every Thursday

Welcome to After School Art, a gentle, joy-filled space where young artists aged 5 to 11 can explore, create, and connect.

Each week, we’ll dive into a new hands-on project using different materials and techniques — from painting and sculpture to collage and fibre art. Our projects are designed to nurture self-expression, develop conidence, and spark imagination, all while having fun and making friends.

Whether your child is already a mini maker or simply curious about art, they’ll be warmly welcomed into our studio community.

Parents are invited to drop and go, or stay and relax in our cosy studio while your child creates.

✨ What We’ll Be Creating – Week by Week

Week 2 – Clay Trinket Dishes
We begin with calming clay work, using hand-building techniques to shape beautiful, personal ceramic trinket dishes — perfect for holding treasures.

Week 3 – Watercolour Landscapes (Inspired by Lisa Congdon)
Gentle brushstrokes and soft colours bring landscapes to life in this relaxing watercolour painting session. Children will explore shape, pattern and storytelling through their art.

Week 4 – Tissue Paper Garden Collage
In this joyful, tactile session, we’ll layer bright tissue paper to grow a garden on paper — full of flowers, leaves and imagination.

Week 5 – Wearable Art: Finger Knitting & Beading
Using finger knitting and beads, children will create their own one-of-a-kind wearable art — from necklaces to friendship bands. A beautiful mix of fine motor fun and creative expression.

Week 6 – Starry Night Mixed Media (Inspired by Van Gogh)
Children will learn to layer paint, texture and movement to create their own swirling starry skies, inspired by Van Gogh’s dreamy “Starry Night.”

Week 7 – Tissue Paper Lanterns
This week is all about light and colour as we sculpt and decorate glowing paper lanterns. A magical project that brings art to life.

Week 8 – Acrylic Mushroom Paintings (Inspired by Yayoi Kusama)
Bold colours, patterns and playful forms come together in this acrylic painting inspired by Kusama’s whimsical world. A perfect balance of structure and creativity.

Week 9 – Clay Christmas Ornaments
To finish our term, children will design and decorate their own air-dry clay Christmas ornaments, ready to hang or gift. We'll add embellishments for extra sparkle and festive cheer.
