A Clay Adventure for Creative Kids - Ages 5 to 11

Term 1 | 7-Week Course | Week 2 (Fri 13th Feb) – Week 8 (Fri 27th Mar)

Welcome to our After School Pottery Club, a hands-on program where children can explore the magical world of clay in a gentle, supportive studio environment.

Over 7 creative weeks, children will learn foundational handbuilding techniques such as pinching, coiling and slab work, while creating a beautiful collection of functional and decorative ceramic pieces. They’ll also have the opportunity to glaze their creations and explore different ways to embellish and personalise their work.

As with all pottery, our process is slow and mindful — we take time to build, dry, fire and glaze each piece with care. All work will be fired in our kiln and will be ready to collect during the January school holidays, once both bisque and glaze firings are complete.

Parents are warmly invited to drop and go, or stay and hang out in our studio while your child creates.

✨ What We’ll Be Making – Week by Week

Week 2 – Lumpy Mugs - Fri 13th Feb
Our clay adventure begins with character-filled lumpy mugs! 
Children will shape and form their own quirky, one-of-a-kind mugs — celebrating wonky handles, playful textures and creative expression.

Week 3 – Clay Creatures - Fri 20th Feb
This week, imagination takes center stage as children sculpt their own clay creatures. Whether real, mythical or totally made-up, we’ll focus on building, texture and personality to bring these creations to life.

Week 4 – Handprint Trinket Dishes - Fri 27th Feb
A sentimental favorite — children will press their own hands into clay to make special trinket dishes. Perfect for holding treasures, these keepsakes capture a moment in time with charm and meaning.

Week 5 – Little House Lanterns - Fri 7th Mar
This magical project invites children to design and build miniature clay houses that glow! We’ll carve doors, windows and details so that when lit from within, each lantern tells its own cozy story.

Week 6 – Botanical Print Ornaments - Fri 14th Mar
To finish our term, children will explore natural textures by pressing leaves and flowers into clay to make beautiful ornaments. Each piece will celebrate nature’s patterns — perfect for hanging or gifting.

Week 7 – Glazing (Part 1) - Fri 21st Mar
Children will spend the last session glazing their pottery — choosing colours, learning techniques, and bringing their work to life.

Week 8 – Glazing (Part 2) - Fri 27th Mar
We’ll complete our glazing this week, making sure every piece is finished with love and care before its final kiln journey.

🎨 All materials, tools, and firings are included — just bring your creativity and a sense of curiosity!

🧡 Please note: Pottery takes time to dry and fire properly. Finished pieces will be carefully fired and ready for collection in the following term.

After School Pottery Club is a beautiful way for children to slow down, get their hands messy, and enjoy the satisfying, grounding process of making with clay.
Whether they’re completely new to pottery or already clay lovers, there’s something here for every young artist.

Parents are welcome to drop and go or stay and wait in the studio.
If dropping off, a duty-of-care waiver will be provided and must be signed prior to the start of the session.
