Join us for a hands-on art and design workshop where children will become little architects and bring their own imaginative buildings to life.
Children will begin by creating a collage of an imaginary building, experimenting with shape, colour and composition to design a structure straight from their imagination.
Inspired by the colourful architectural artworks of Paul Klee, children will then use block-printing shapes to create their own printed cityscape. They’ll explore layering, pattern and colour as they arrange simple shapes to form buildings, windows, rooftops and other architectural details.
Children will also design and construct a miniature model of their own wooden treehouse. Using wooden pieces and decorative materials, they’ll explore the fundamentals of building and three-dimensional design while creating a playful structure to take home. Please note - Children will work primarily with wood glue but may be assisted to use a hot glue gun if required.
There will be plenty of room for individual creativity as children choose their own colours, shapes, patterns and architectural details. Every building, print and treehouse will be completely unique!
All materials and tools are provided, including collage papers, printing materials, paint, wooden pieces and decorative materials.
This workshop is perfect for children who enjoy architecture, construction and imaginative design. They’ll experiment with collage, block printing and model-making while creating three unique artworks to take home.
Parents are welcome to stay and observe, or to drop off children aged five and over. If you are dropping your child off, a sign-in sheet and consent waiver will be provided for a parent or guardian to complete at the beginning of the class. We are conveniently located next to Patisserie Bleu and John Connell Reserve Playground.
