A Creative Journey Through Fibre & Handmade Art

Ages 6+ | Homeschool Friendly

Term 4 | 8-Week Course | Week 2–Week 9

A creative textile arts program inspired by traditional handcraft and Waldorf-style handwork. Each week, children will explore a new fibre or textile technique while creating something beautiful to use, wear or treasure.

Through felting, weaving, finger knitting, sewing and yarn work, children will develop practical skills, fine motor coordination, patience, creativity and problem-solving while learning the joy of slow, hands-on making.

Natural and tactile materials are used wherever possible, with plenty of opportunity for children to experiment and develop their own ideas.

Homeschool curriculum connections are provided each week, linking the projects and skills explored to relevant learning areas.

✨ What We’ll Be Creating – Week by Week

Week 2 – Wet-Felted Bracelets
Children will be introduced to wet felting as they transform soft wool fibres into colourful wearable bracelets. They’ll explore colour, texture and the magic of turning loose fibres into felt.

Week 3 – Circular Weavings
Using yarn and simple weaving techniques, children will create colourful circular weavings. They’ll explore pattern, texture and colour while learning the basic weaving technqiues.

Week 4 – Grass Dolls
Inspired by traditional handmade dolls, children will use grasses, yarns and natural materials to create their own little characters. A playful project exploring natural materials, construction and imagination.

Week 5 – Finger-Knitted Bookmarks
Children will learn the simple technique of finger knitting before turning their colourful creations into personalised bookmarks a practical little project for readers and makers.

Week 6 – Wire & Yarn-Wrapped Animals
Children will bend and shape wire to create an animal form before wrapping it with colourful yarn. They’ll explore shape, structure and texture while turning simple materials into expressive little creatures.

Week 7 – Needle-Felted & Wet-Felted Wishing Stones
Combining two different felting techniques, children will create colourful little wishing stones from wool. They’ll experiment with layers, colour and texture to make something small and meaningful.

Week 8 – Hand-Sewn Fidget Fish
Children will practise their hand-sewing skills while creating a little fish. They’ll stitch, stuff and decorate their creations, filling them with beads and stuffing to make a handmade fidget toy to take home.
