What we’ll be making: A Handmade Crochet Headband
Learn the basics of crochet while creating a handmade headband to take home and wear. This beginner-friendly workshop introduces children to the fundamental skills of crochet through a practical and achievable project.
Children will begin by choosing their yarn from a selection of colours before learning how to hold and work with a crochet hook and yarn. Step by step, they’ll learn the foundations of crochet, including single and double crochet stitches.
As they work, children will practise maintaining an even tension, counting stitches and carefully completing each row. They’ll also learn how to identify and correct simple mistakes along the way.
There will be plenty of room for individual creativity as children select their own colours and personalise their headbands. Every finished piece will be completely unique!
All materials and tools are provided, including colourful yarn and crochet hooks.
This workshop is perfect for older children who enjoy working with their hands and would like to learn a new fibre craft in a relaxed and supportive environment. They’ll experience the satisfaction of developing a new skill while creating something practical and wearable.
Parents are welcome to stay and observe, or to drop off children aged nine and over. If you are dropping your child off, a sign-in sheet and consent waiver will be provided for a parent or guardian to complete at the beginning of the class. We are conveniently located next to Patisserie Bleu and John Connell Reserve Playground.
