What we’ll be making: Hand-built ceramic gnomes and mushrooms with air dry clay

Wander into a whimsical woodland world in this delightful clay workshop, where children will sculpt their very own tiny gnomes and magical mushrooms for a fairy garden filled with imagination and charm.

Using air-dry clay — wonderfully soft and easy for little hands to shape — young makers will be introduced to the fundamentals of ceramic hand-building as they pinch, roll, sculpt, and model a collection of enchanting forest characters. From sleepy mushrooms to cheerful gnomes with pointy hats, every creation will be entirely unique and guided by each child’s imagination.

As children build their miniature fairy garden companions, they’ll also be developing fine motor skills, creative confidence, storytelling abilities, and problem-solving through playful, hands-on making. This workshop encourages children to slow down, experiment, and delight in the magic of creating something entirely their own.

Once their sculptures are complete, children will take their creations home to dry naturally. The creativity doesn’t end there — families can continue the fun together by painting the dried pieces with acrylic paints, adding colourful details and personality to each whimsical character. Please note - as creations are made from airy dry clay they are suited to inside display as pictured and shouldn't be left out in the elements.

Perfect for children who love fairies, tiny worlds, storytelling, and sculpting, this workshop offers a joyful introduction to working with clay while creating a treasured collection of handmade keepsakes for their fairy garden adventures.
