A Creative Sewing Club for Ages 7+

Term 4 | 8-Week Course | Week 2–Week 9

Welcome to Hand Sew Club, a creative and practical sewing class where children aged 7 and up can slow down, learn new skills, and make something they can be proud of.

Across the term, children will learn the foundations of hand sewing while creating a collection of fun, useful, and imaginative projects. Each project runs across two weeks, giving children plenty of time to learn new stitches, practise their technique, problem-solve, and complete their creations without feeling rushed.

From tiny monsters and mini bags to magical characters and Christmas decorations, children will explore different fabrics, stitches and construction techniques while developing patience, fine motor skills, creativity and confidence.

Whether they are completely new to sewing or already enjoy making with their hands, children will be encouraged to work at their own pace and add their own personality to each creation.

✨ What We’ll Be Creating – Week by Week

Week 2 & 3 – Mini Monsters
Children will learn the foundations of hand sewing while designing and creating their own little felt monster. They’ll practise stitching pieces together, adding details like buttons and stuffing their creation to bring their character to life.

Week 4 & 5 – Mini Bags
Children will put their sewing skills to use making a small fabric bag. Needle felting a design and then using a blanket stitch to construct it, joining fabric pieces and adding a strap or a clip button. 

Week 6 & 7 – Wizards & Fairies
This project invites children to get imaginative as they sew their own tiny wizard or fairy clothes. They’ll explore how to measure out fabric and add embellishments while creating a magical little dress, cape or hat for a peg doll friend to take home. 

Week 8 & 9 – Christmas Ornaments
To finish the term, children will create their own hand-sewn Christmas ornaments. They’ll use their sewing and decorative skills to design something festive that can be treasured, displayed or gifted.
