After School Sewing Club - Term 2

Welcome to After School Sewing Club, a gentle space where young makers aged 5 to 11 can relax, learn to hand sew and meet other creative kids!

Please note, children under age 7 must be accompanied by a participating adult who can assist them during the session.

Each week, we dive into hands-on projects using fabric, felt, thread, and simple sewing techniques. Our projects are designed to nurture creativity, build confidence, and develop fine motor skills, all while having fun and making friends.

Whether your child is brand new to sewing or already loves working with textiles, they’ll be warmly welcomed into our creative community.

Parents are invited to drop and go ages , or stay and relax in our cosy studio while your child creates.

What We’ll Be Creating – Week by Week

Weeks 2 & 3 – Button-Eyed Cat Bag Charms
We begin with an adorable beginner-friendly project as children create a hand-sewn cat charm with button eyes, perfect for clipping onto a bag or backpack.

Weeks 4 & 5 – Felt Butterflies
Children will sew colourful felt butterflies while learning simple stitching techniques and adding decorative details.

Weeks 6 & 7 – Pencil Holder
A practical and creative project! Children will make their own pencil holder, decorated with felt embellishments and personalised touches.

Weeks 8 & 9 – Hand-Sewn Felt Flower Portraits
A beautiful textile artwork where children create hand-sewn flowers and arrange them into a decorative felt portrait piece.

Week 10 – Heart-Shaped Pin Cushions
To finish the term, children will sew a sweet heart-shaped pin cushion—perfect for safely storing sewing pins and needles.
