Pottery Club is an 8 week program and will run every Friday afternoon from Week 2 to Week 9.

Welcome to After School Pottery Club, a hands-on creative space where young artists aged 5 to 11 can explore the world of clay and learn the fundamentals of ceramic hand building.

In this class, children will develop foundational pottery skills while creating a range of fun and imaginative projects. Each week introduces a new idea and technique, allowing children to build confidence, express themselves, and enjoy the tactile experience of working with clay. Children will also have the opportunity to glaze their work.

The cost of this class includes kiln firing and clear glazing by our staff. Artwork is first bisque fired and then clear glazed by our staff where appropriate before being glaze fired a second time.

Parents are invited to drop and go for ages 5+, or stay and relax in our cosy studio while your child creates.

What We’ll Be Creating – Week by Week

Week 2 – Clay Cupcakes & Food Sculptures

Children sculpt playful “fake food” like cupcakes, donuts, sushi, or fruit. Great for texture work, underglaze detail, and creativity.

Week 3 – Mini Clay Planters

An introduction to functional pottery as children shape small pinch pot planters, learning how to form and refine simple vessels.

Week 4 – Ceramic Treasure Boxes

Children will design and build lidded clay boxes, perfect for holding tiny treasures, learning joining techniques and structure.

Week 5 – Leaf Imprint Bowls

Children press real leaves and natural textures into clay slabs, then form them into shallow bowls.

Week 6 – Clay Houses & Buildings

Children will construct small architectural forms such as houses, huts, or fantasy buildings, focusing on shape and construction stability.

Week 7 – Ceramic Masks

A sculptural project where children create expressive face masks in clay, experimenting with emotion, pattern, and relief detail.

Week 8 – Mini Lanterns (Tea Light Holders)

Children pierce and sculpt clay forms designed to glow with light once fired (holes, patterns, cut-outs).

Week 9 – Glazing Week

Students will learn glazing techniques to add colour and finish to their creations, bringing their ceramic pieces to life.

All materials, firing, and glazing are included.

Whether your child is quiet and thoughtful or full of energy and ideas, After School Pottery Club offers a warm, supportive space to learn, create, and get a little messy with clay.
