🌈 After School Art – A Creative Journey for Ages 5–11

Term 1 | 7-Week Course | Week 2 – Week 8 – Every Thursday

Welcome to After School Art, a gentle, joy-filled space where young artists aged 5 to 11 can explore, create, and connect.

Each week, we dive into a new hands-on project using different materials and techniques — from painting and sculpture to collage and printmaking. Our projects are designed to nurture self-expression, build confidence, and spark imagination, all while having fun and making friends.

Whether your child is already a mini maker or simply curious about art, they’ll be warmly welcomed into our studio community.

Parents are invited to drop and go, or stay and relax in our cosy studio while your child creates.

✨ What We’ll Be Creating – Week by Week

Week 2 – Shape and Skewer Sculptures - 12th Feb
We begin with playful 3D art, using beads, paper and clay to design abstract, free-standing sculptures that explore balance, shape and creativity.

Week 3 – Watercolour & Pen Jellyfish Illustrations - 19th Feb
Using flowing watercolours and fine ink details, children will create gentle, drifting jellyfish artworks that explore line, colour and movement.

Week 4 – Acrylic Monoprints on Foil - 26th Feb
A fun introduction to printmaking! Children will paint designs on foil before transferring them onto paper to create their own vibrant acrylic monoprints.

Week 5 – Abstract Painting (Inspired by Alma Woodsey Thomas) - 5th Mar
Bold colours and joyful patterns take centre stage as we explore Alma Thomas’s iconic abstract style and create expressive, pattern-rich paintings.

Week 6 – Symmetrical Butterfly Collage - 12th Mar
A celebration of colour and balance! We’ll build bright, symmetrical butterflies using layered tissue paper in a beautiful collage.

Week 7 – Chalk & Pastel Cat Portraits (Inspired by Rebecca Cool) - 19th Mar
Soft pastels, bold colours and playful shapes combine as children create whimsical cat portraits inspired by Australian artist Rebecca Cool.

Week 8 – Watercolour & Oil Pastel Easter Eggs - 26th Mar
To finish the term, children will explore watercolour–oil pastel resist techniques to design vibrant, patterned Easter egg artworks full of colour and charm.
