Each session introduces a new drawing or comic-making technique. Students will also be introduced to the basics of comic storytelling, including panels, sequencing and speech bubbles. They’ll brainstorm their story and begin developing their characters and comic idea.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWeek 3 – Characters \u0026amp; Proportion\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eTechnique:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan class=\"x_63201634gmail-Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eFigure construction and the Loomis method.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStudents will learn to break the human figure down into simple shapes and explore basic proportions. We’ll introduce the Loomis method for constructing heads and begin developing character reference drawings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWeek 4 – Cartoon \u0026amp; Comic Animals\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eTechnique:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan class=\"x_63201634gmail-Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eSimplifying animals into shapes and creating cartoon-style features.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStudents will explore how real animals can be transformed into fun cartoon characters by breaking them down into simple shapes. They’ll begin adding colour to their comic while developing their own visual style.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWeek 7 – Perspective \u0026amp; Backgrounds\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eTechnique:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan class=\"x_63201634gmail-Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eLinear perspective, viewpoints and creating depth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStudents will explore horizon lines, perspective and scale, learning how to create believable spaces and interesting viewpoints.
